AATHITHYA – AN
APPRECIATION
No mincing words. No beating around the
bush. No confusion, no controversies. No ifs, no buts. Plain,
simple, undiluted grand gala success. That is the short and
sweet story of Aatithya – the 37th Annual
Conference of Rotary district 3060 at Jamnagar.
Is 22nd December the shortest day of the year?
We certainly felt so as the ‘Anandam’ at the suspicious
‘Aatithya’ unfolded with a zillion ‘Aakanshas’.
The registration formalities were so smooth and prompt
– it was almost a home away from home.
We were pleasantly surprised by the cool and cordial
atmosphere. Our joy multiplied as the navy band regaled the
entrants with its musical display of drums, trumpets and
clarionets
The ambience was magnificent, the rendezvous was
rollicking and the Halari Hospitality touch was for all senses
to perceive. The traditional Kathiawadi décor was superb and
when the luminaries marched across in the colourful turbans, it
was indeed a Kodak moment of glory.
The heavens
smiled and the nature Gods showered their choicest blessings as
the conference was unveiled at 4:00 pm. Our hearts warmed as the
‘Midtown – swaram’ melody motivated the audience with the
Rotary song.
The honorable guests formed a formidable who’s who. The
Chief Justice Mr. Bhatt, the Consul General of Israel and the RI
representative RI director John Thorne enthralled and
enlightened us by their sheer presence and words of wisdom. And
above all PRID KALYANBHAI was at his brilliant best, as usual.
His speech was exciting, enticing and enviously excellent.
The evening entertainment was a cocktail of rustic
Gujarati garbas, IYE presentation and humorous anecdotes by
Laughter challenge participants.
The second day was devoted to Rotary awareness and
information. What is Rotary doing, what has Rotary done, the
future goals and challenges, the thrust areas including water
management, literacy and public image of Rotary were discussed
in details by well endowed, highly knowledgeable stalwarts like
Dr. Naresh Ved, Dr. Rajendrasinh among others.
The recognition of major donors of TRF and PHF was done
with traditional gaiety and dignity. The GSE team from Israel
gave a panoramic presentation of their country. The Rotary
awards for the year 2005-2006 were announced by IPDG Mr. Ashish
Roy and his team. The worthy winners were cheered by thunderous
applause from the appreciative audience. RC of Vapi and RC of
Rajkot Midtown were the forerunners.
Then came the Dhoom from RC of Ankleshwar with its
co-hosts for ‘Aakansha’ under the leadership of DGE Ashok
Panjwani. It was a electrifying, mystical presentation of
invitation to the next conference of Rotary 3060 district.
The night was lightened up by the Bollywood Bonanza
performance by Vinod Rathod and his troup. The entire team was
in supreme elements as the Rotary fraternity enjoyed the fun,
frolic and frenzy in a fantastic function of dance and music. I
am sure everybody must have chanted “Yeh dil maange more”.
On the last day, Swami Satya Vedantji was in pristine
powers as he showed the ways and means to ‘LEAD THE WAY’.
The concluding
session included an interesting, informative presentation by the
GSE team from Brazil. The conference ended with a profuse
thanksgiving to the charming leader DG Bipinbhai Vadhar and his
glorious team.
Yes, the simple, serene, smiling, soft spoken, sincere DG
Bipinbhai was the solid stone of success of Aatithya, a
memorable milestone in district 3060 annals.
All in all, the event was like….. Coooo…..l and
Rotary magic Rocks. Lage raho Bipinbhai.
Thanking you.
